North Knox Brigade is a skatepark and community center for people of all ages, genders, and races located in Knoxville, Tennessee. A safe place to go, people who care, and something to do in the community. Northstar Foundation. A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Brigade was founded in 2022 by Hux Jones, current chef of Balter Beerworks. His dream is to do the two loves in his life. Create food and skateboard. Northstar Foundation is dedicated to Diversity- Alternative- Passion- and Skills (“DAPS”) in its construction, operation, and maintenance of the “Brigade,” a North Knoxville Skatepark. The Northstar Foundation strives to make the Brigade a vital part of the North Knoxville community by welcoming all local youth and families to become engaged and empowered through the exploration of skills and passion in a unique environment which allows individuals to push their comfort zones and build resilience in a way that is not found in most non-profit organizations. Through the Brigade, the Northstar Foundation provides opportunities for those kids who fall outside of the “mainstream society” to have an alternative outlet and unique environment aimed toward putting these individuals in a position to thrive in the world.
